We created this workbook because compassionate communication is part of our liberation practice. In systems shaped by domination and disconnection, learning to speak and listen with care is radical work.
Many of us were never taught how to stay present in tension and conflict, and we often confuse discomfort for danger. Conversations turn into defensiveness, silence, or shame (even when we care about one another).
The practice of Direct Compassionate Communication (DCC) offers another way. It invites us to slow down, get into our body, notice what we’re experiencing and challenge our beliefs, name what we’re feeling, connect that to what we’re needing, and to make clear requests.
This workbook isn’t about providing a script or perfect formula. Perfection belongs to oppressive systems.
This is simply a place to practice and build capacity for presence and honest expression . To cultivate fortitude and resilience to handle the hard conversations on our journey.
Move through these pages with curiosity and compassion for yourself and others. Each small moment of awareness helps us build relationships and communities rooted in dignity, accountability, and collective liberation.
